Custom Homes Built Around the Way Your Family Actually Lives
A new home on the lot you have, built around how your family really uses a home, around Lake Norman
What Custom Actually Means
A Home Planned Around Your Family, Not a Template
"Custom" gets used loosely by production builders who let you swap a countertop and call it personalized. We mean it differently. A custom home with us starts from the lot you have, the family that will live in the house, and the Saturday you're building toward. We work with the architects and designers you bring, or we can recommend ones we trust. The floor plan gets planned around how you actually move through a home: where the kids land after school, where the boat gear has to live, where the afternoon light hits in July, where Thanksgiving happens when the whole family shows up.
Every decision works back from those moments. A mudroom sized for the reality of life near a lake. A primary suite with its own door to the porch. A kitchen that handles a crowd without feeling crowded when it's just the two of you on a Tuesday. The goal is a home that fits your family now and still fits them in fifteen years.
Our Process
How a Custom Home Build Runs With Us
A custom home is the longest project we take on, which makes the planning phase the most important part of the work. The first call is short and focused on what you're trying to build, where you are in the timeline, and roughly what you have in mind for the budget. If we're a fit, we come out to walk the lot together, look at the conditions that will shape the build, and answer the questions that only make sense in person.
From there we work with the architects and designers you bring, or recommend partners around Lake Norman who fit the kind of home you're picturing. The proposal that comes back includes a written breakdown of what's in your cost, with our profit and overhead listed separately, so you can see what the job costs versus what we make to run it. The number at the bottom is the number, and any change to it runs through a change order you approve first. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is in, we coordinate with your designers and architects, pull permits, and break ground. Through the build itself, we keep you in the loop on schedule, decisions, and any change orders before we move on them.
Common questions
What Most Clients Ask Before a Custom Home Build
- How long does a custom home build take?expand_more
- Most custom homes run six to twelve months from groundbreaking to move-in, depending on size, complexity, and weather. The planning and design phase before construction starts often takes another two to four months. We give you a timeline with the proposal so you know what to expect before any work begins.
- Do you do design work in-house?expand_more
- No. We're a general contractor, not a design-build firm. You're welcome to bring your own architect or designer, or we can recommend partners around Lake Norman who fit the kind of home you have in mind.
- What happens if we discover something unexpected during construction?expand_more
- We stop, document it, and walk you through the options and cost. If a change is needed, we write it up as a change order, you approve, and we continue. The same works in reverse: if you decide to remove something from the scope, we can take that off and adjust the cost accordingly.

What It's Like to Work With Us
"Highly recommend Luke for anything you need done in your home. He built custom closets and kitchen pantry for us and asked a bunch of questions so make sure it was exactly how we wanted it. I gave him my vision and he did above and beyond! Luke also installed LVP flooring and it looks amazing! So happy with all the work that was done!"
Nicole Feller
"We couldn’t be happier with our new bathroom! From the very beginning, Luke Beaudoin was a true professional—kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to listen to what we wanted and made sure every detail was just right. It’s not easy letting someone tear apart a part of your home, but Luke made the whole process smooth and stress-free.
His crew was always on time, respectful of our space, and cleaned up each day like true gentlemen. The quality of the work speaks for itself—our bathroom is now beautiful, functional, and easy for us to get around in (which means a lot at our age!).
We’ve had quite a few remodels over the years, but this was by far the best experience. Luke truly takes pride in his work, and it shows. Thank you, Luke, for treating us and our home with such care!"
James Hopp
