After working and living in a kitchen that functioned but needed new life, the homeowner asked us to come update her kitchen. After finding us on Thumbtack, we built her a fresh kitchen with bold colors and clean lines that breathed new life into the kitchen and the rest of the home. 

As a highly trafficked room in the house, the kitchen can be transformed to affect how the whole house flows. We were able to open up the space of this kitchen, which improved the flow of the living room and kitchen and made the space feel much bigger, more open, and brighter.

Lake Norman Kitchen Transformation Project Details

Every project is unique, from scope to duration and cost. We love to work with individuals to see their projects come to life. In this project, it took us about two months to open up the walls, move electrical circuits and outlets, move the hood vent pipe, and update lighting.

Featured Design Elements

Before the remodel began, this home was boxed in and had a closed off, small feel in each of the common living spaces. The homeowners vision was to open up the space. We focused on removing walls and adding lighting to expand and brighten the space, both of which add a spacious feel. 

The highlight of this project was seeing the homeowners face when she saw the walls come down and the open concept take shape. That moment transformed her whole home and from there we added beautiful features and finishes, like navy cabinets, quartz countertops, white tile backsplash, and floral accent wallpaper, which brought together the whole space.

Unique Design Considerations

In this project, just like any other kitchen remodel that we do, we worked through project details up front with our client so there were few surprises as we went. The main challenge in this remodel was the hood vent pipe that needed to be moved. 

Hood vents need to be aligned vertically, and when new appliances or different cabinets are installed, it is common to need to move the hood vent pipe to keep it aligned and up to code. In this project, we were able to navigate the necessary hood vent move to bring the desired design to life. 

We also re-circuited electrical wiring and moved outlets to accommodate the removed walls, added lighting, and new cabinets. In the end, the electrical changes were seamlessly integrated for a new, fresh kitchen.

Designed With Purpose

This kitchen remodel was as unique as the homeowner and her home. The transformation that the open concept brought to the house brought light and flow. The pop of color with navy cabinets contrasted with white quartz countertops and white tile backsplash made a bold statement. Through quality craftsmanship and transparent communication, we navigated the project challenges and ended with a project the homeowner was excited about.
